- Charles William Carr Charles William Carr, 67, of Rosedale died August 21. 2010 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. He was born July 29. 1943 in Braxton County a son of the late Riley and Ruby Jarvis Carr. He was a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He was a Protestant. Surviving; wife, Vivian Goodrich Carr; son, Bobby Dale Carr of Gassaway; grandchildren, Ashley Carr, Justin Carr, Caleb Carr, Cheyenne Carr, Montanna Carr and Alexandra Carr. Service was 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 24 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Gene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Rosedale Community Cemetery. Friends called two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
- Clyde Burl Westfall, Sr. Clyde Burl Westfall, Sr., 90, of Sutton went home to be with the Lord August 23, 2010. Burl was born on November 8, 1919 in Nicholas County to the late Oley Lee and Sarah Alice Baughman Westfall. He was a Coalminer, Logger, and worked for FMC Corporation. Burl was a Methodist by faith and attended Polemic Run Baptist Church. He served his country during WW II in the U. S. Army. Burl is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Mae Ellen Conner Westfall, brothers; Ray, Lee Paul and troy, his Sisters; Ruby and Nettie. Surviving him are son; Clyde Burl “Sonny” Westfall, Jr. and wife Barbara of Durham, N. C., Daughters; Patsy Rose and husband Vernon and Alice Mae Smallwood and husband Donald all of Sutton, Carol Sue Slaton of Rogersville, AL., Florence “Topsy” Scarberry of Nitro, WV and Tiffany Westfall of Charleston, WV. also his sister; Nydda Jean Miller of Bradenton, FL. and 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Polemic Run Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hoover officiating. - Mrs. Wanda Mae Graff Mrs. Wanda Mae Graff, 65, of Burnsville, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:45 a.m. at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on June 29, 1945 in Weston: daughter of the late Fred Manley and Margie (Willis) Manley. On May 10, 1985, she married Dick Graff, who survives. In addition to her husband Mrs. Graff is survived by two daughters Leslie Sprouse (Danny) of Jane Lew, and Julie Austin (Scott) of Grafton, and two step sons Rich Graff (Linda) of Burnsville and Nick Graff (Michelle) of Walkersville. In addition to her children she is survived by five grandchildren Jalen Sprouse, Marlie Sprouse, Sophia Austin, Chance Graff and Eddie Posey. Mrs. Graff is also survived by one brother Fred Manley, Jr. of Ravenswood, and two sisters Shirley Clifford (Jim) of Centerville, OH, and Carol Fulks (Mike) of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graff was the cashier and general manager of Graff Auction Services of Burnsville. She was a member of St. Mathew United Methodist Church of Weston. Mrs. Graff worked at many different endeavors over her lifetime. She was a secretary for Louie Craig, worked in record keeping for Dr. Trefz at General Hospital in Weston, Manley Clothing Store, Switchboard operator for the Weston State Hospital and Counselor for Appalachian Mental Health of Weston. Family received friends at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 North Main Avenue Weston on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jonathan Nettle officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew. - David Joseph Hart David Joseph Hart, 27, of Sutton died August 27, 2010, from injuries received from a motorcycle accident. He was born March 30, 1983, in Buckhannon. David was a heavy equipment operator and he loved to hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles. He attended the Little Otter United Methodist Church. David is survived by daughter, Erica Faith Hart of Sutton; mother and stepfather, Cathy and Larry Grogg of Sutton; father and stepmother, Robert W. and Jeannie Hart of Sutton; brother, Bobby Hart and wife Ashley of Summersville; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Vicky Cawthon of Frametown; paternal grandparents, Revelea and Jim Lemon of Gassaway and Wes and Ann Ables of South Carolina; stepgrandmother, Norris Dean of Sutton; stepsisters, Shannon Triplett and husband Robb of Sutton, Tammy Birchard of Lake City, Fla., and Kara Conley and husband Barry of Burnsville; stepbrothers, Joe Grogg of Sutton and Tim Crites and wife Virginia of Little Birch; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Linda Cawthon; and paternal grandfather, Herbert David Hart. A private memorial service for the family will be held Monday, August 30, at Gassaway Baptist Church followed by a visitation for friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church. - James Lee “Sonny” Conrad James Lee “Sonny” Conrad, 94, of Crawford, WV passed away Wednesday, Aug., 25, 2010 at his home and in the care of Hospice after a short illness. Sonny was born on May 7, 1916 in Napier, WV a son of the late Boyd and Artie M. Wine Conrad. He was retired from the WV Department of Highways and a member of the Orlando Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia Pearl Horner Conrad. Also preceding him in death are two grandchildren and six brothers and sisters. Sonny is survived by his children; Sharon Hayhurst, Billy (Barbara) Conrad, Boyd (Nancy) Conrad, Sue (Rich) Mealey, Brenda (Gary) Hall, Bobby (Vicky) Conrad. Thirteen Grandchildren, Fifteen Great-Grandchildren and Two Great-Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Lou Young of Leivasy, WV, Rosa Sisk of Weston, WV, Reba Ratliff of Orlando, WV and Nancy Singleton of Orlando. One brother, Roy “Budge” Conrad. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Lonnie Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV. Friends called from 6-9:00 PM Friday evening and from 9:00 AM to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. - Alta Glenn Long Jr. Alta Glenn Long Jr., 66, of Gassaway, died August 27, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital, Charleston. He was born August 11, 1944 at Ansted, WV a son of the late Alta G. and Roberta Lillian McCallister Long In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by son, Douglas S. Long. He was the marketing director for Go Mart Corporation for 33 years. He was a member of the National Association of Conveniences Stores and completed the Financial Management Institute in 1983. West Virginia Lottery recognized him for his time, dedication and understanding service and was a member of the Lottery Retailer Advisory Board. He completed the Food Industry Management Program at Cornell University in 1984. He was a member of the Hillbilly Players performing in a variety of productions. He was a Methodist. He is survived by sisters, Judith Carol Isaacs of Charleston and Debra Margaret Ward of Redding, CA; brother, James Robert Long of Gassaway; nephew, Dean Ward of Redding, CA; nieces, Stephanie Bridgett of Redding, CA, Amy Jo Malleo of Surprise, AZ and Bobbie Lynn Lopez of Danese, WV. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2 at the Gassaway United Methodist Church with Rev. Harley D. Scalf officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Richard M. She was a graduate of Elkview High School and was a former clerk for Kanawha Valley Bank. She loved reading and playing the piano for churches and different gospel quartets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eva Burdette-Brown; infant brother, Bronson Brown; and sisters, Evelyn Pauley of Kentucky and Emma Louise Bonham of South Carolina. - Joanne Landy, formerly of Stickney, died Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Sherry's Private Home Care in Daniels, following a long illness. She was born in Rivesville, a daughter of the late Walter and Emma Smith. Joanne grew up in Ameagle, and attended Clear Fork High School. She lived most of her life and enjoyed working with many charitable organizations and helping children. Mrs. Landy was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Ladies Auxiliary and VFW. She was a former secretary and treasurer of the Marsh Fork Pee Wee and Midget Football League, and a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Moe Landy Jr.; and a son, Fredrick; a granddaughter, Shawna; and her brother, Charles R. Smith. She is survived by two sons, Paul Landy of Daniels, and John Landy of Sutton; stepson, Larry Massey of Bridgeport; and a daughter, Mary Ann Jenkins of Sutton; three grandchildren, Joseph, Jodi and Tammy; and two great-grandchildren. - Ida Mae Jackqueline Jackie Coyner, 85, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2010. She grew up in South Charleston and lived in Charleston and Hurricane. In later years she was a resident of Sweetbrier Assisted Living. In her earlier years, she became an R.N., taking her training at St. Francis Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Keith Coyner; parents, Carless and Marie (Julliard) Martin; and brothers, Clyde Godbey and David Martin. Surviving her are a son, James K. Coyner II and his wife Jeanna of St. Albans; grandson, Chris Coyner of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Hullah Carwithen and her husband Ron of Brooksville, Fla.; brothers, Gene Martin and his wife Rosemary of South Charleston and Arthur Martin and his wife Carol of Charleston. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Roger, a Vietnam Army veteran, was a member of both the American Legion and VFW in Indiana, and attended the First Reformed Christian Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Earl and Ruby White Craig. Survivors include his sons, Roger William Craig Jr., and Brian Jennings Craig, both of Merrillville, Ind.; daughter, Christine Marie Craig of Merrillville, Ind.; brother, Richard Craig of Sissonville; sisters, Rita Ellen Kittner of Orange, Texas, Regina Carol Hayes of Clarkesville, Tenn., Rosalind Drake of Cottageville, Naoma Gwenn of Clendenin, and Rebecca Faye Welch of Nitro; and grandchildren, Julie and Jordan. - Edward Taylor, 57, of Lake Mary, Fla., passed away peacefully on September 3, 2010, surrounded by his family after a courageous 3 year battle with gastric cancer. A memorial service will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, September 6, at Baldwin Fairchild in Lake Mary, Fla. There will be an additional viewing prior to the funeral mass, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 7. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at the All Souls Chapel located in Sanford on the corner of West 9th and Oak Avenue. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Margaret; daughter, Andrea; son, Grant; and daughter-in-law, Kim, all of Orlando, Fla. Survivors also include brothers, Steve, Rocky, Garry and Jerry Taylor; and sister, Constance Turley, as well as a host of dear relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Deena Taylor. Mark was the director of healthcare markets at Shaw Industries until the time of his death. He spent his life working in the retail and manufacturing of flooring and was a true visionary. Mark lived his life and taught others according to his life philosophy: I will treat others the way I wish to be treated. I will do my best in all endeavors. I will be honest with myself and others. I will be responsible for my decisions and actions. Mark will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mildred was born in Charleston on January 18, 1923, to the late Harry and Nannie O'Conner. She was a retired surgical technician from CAMC and was a charter member of the Georges Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Her husband, David Toot Sneed, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Fonda Batts of Roanoke, Va.; sons, Timothy (Susan) Sneed of Duncan, S.C., and Jim Sneed of Malden; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a 1986 graduate of St. Albans High School and a graduate of the University of Charleston, attended the West Virginia University School of Law for one year and earned a Masters from Perley Isaac School of Journalism. She operated the Marmet Summer Park Program for several years. She goes to join her loving husband of 54 years, Hassell E. He was born November 12, 1947, in Mason County, a son to the late Hugh Leach and Betty Jo Robbins Leach. - Terence Terry Joseph McPartland III, 58, died comfortably at home on September 1, 2010, after a long illness with his devoted sisters by his side. Terry was born in Teaneck, N.J., on December 19, 1951. He was the son of Terence J. Jr. and Catherine Williamson McPartland. Terry participated in the Community Bridges Program and worked at the Concord Monitor Newspaper for eleven years His greatest joy was spending time with family, participating in many activities, such as fishing, camping, bowling, cooking, and traveling to many interesting places. - Ida Mae Coyner Ida Mae Jackqueline Jackie Coyner, 85, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2010. She grew up in South Charleston and lived in Charleston and Hurricane. In later years she was a resident of Sweetbrier Assisted Living. In her earlier years, she became an R.N., taking her training at St. Francis Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Keith Coyner; parents, Carless and Marie (Julliard) Martin; and brothers, Clyde Godbey and David Martin. Surviving her are a son, James K. Coyner II and his wife Jeanna of St. Albans; grandson, Chris Coyner of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Hullah Carwithen and her husband Ron of Brooksville, Fla.; brothers, Gene Martin and his wife Rosemary of South Charleston and Arthur Martin and his wife Carol of Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Margaret; daughter, Andrea; son, Grant; and daughter-in-law, Kim, all of Orlando, Fla. - Clinton F. Murphy Clinton F. Murphy, age 83, of Beckley, West Virginia, died at 7:34 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness. Born August 24, 1926, in Slab Fork, he was the son of the late Fred and Josephine Bailey Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Glenna Paisley Murphy, his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lynne living in Budapest, Hungary; grandchildren, Jackie of Whitefish, MT, Sherri of North Fort Myers, FL, Paula of Rumsford, ME, and Ron of Atlanta, GA, and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Murphy is also survived by sisters, Truby Davis of Midway, NC, and Eva Lou Phelps of Winston-Salem, NC. He is survived by brothers, Earl Murphy of Galax, VA, and Curtis Murphy of St. Joseph, MO. An uncle, Everett Bailey of Spring Hill, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by two sisters, Virgie Meakin of Arlington, TX, and Elizabeth, who died as an infant. Clinton received Christ as his personal Savior in November 1965. He will be remembered as a man of integrity. Mr. Murphy worked as a maintenance supervisor for Beckley Mining Company and area coal mines in West Virginia and Kentucky. He retired from Cleveland Cliffs Coal Company. A veteran of World War II, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Thelma moved to Oklahoma five years ago to be near her daughter. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her first husband, Raymond Shifflett, to whom she was married on October 1939, second husband, Ralph Ludell Baker, to whom she was married on June 1966, as well as three brothers, Homer Coleman, Richard Coleman and Thadeus Coleman, and a sister, Daisy Pungen, preceded her in death. Survivors include Nancy Shifflett Plunkett of Slaughterville, OK; a son, Ronald Shifflett of Holcomb, WI; sisters, Carolyn O’Dell and husband, Woodie, of Fayetteville, Dorothy Entsminger of Oak Hill and Mary Treadway and husband, Jimmy, of Lakeland, FL, and a brother, Ray Coleman and wife, Betty, of Navarre, OH. Two sisters-in-law, Catherine Coleman of Fayetteville and Vada Ellison of Scarbro. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ronnie Plunkett and Jerrilynn Plunkett both of Slaughterville, OK, Will Plunkett of Norman, OK, Karen Cracker and Donna Shifflett both of Wisconsin; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was born on June 29, 1945 in Weston: daughter of the late Fred Manley and Margie (Willis) Manley. On May 10, 1985, she married Dick Graff, who survives. In addition to her husband Mrs. Graff is survived by two daughters Leslie Sprouse (Danny) of Jane Lew, and Julie Austin (Scott) of Grafton, and two step sons Rich Graff (Linda) of Burnsville and Nick Graff (Michelle) of Walkersville. In addition to her children she is survived by five grandchildren Jalen Sprouse, Marlie Sprouse, Sophia Austin, Chance Graff and Eddie Posey. Mrs. Graff is also survived by one brother Fred Manley, Jr. of Ravenswood, and two sisters Shirley Clifford (Jim) of Centerville, OH, and Carol Fulks (Mike) of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graff was the cashier and general manager of Graff Auction Services of Burnsville. She was a member of St. Mathew United Methodist Church of Weston. Mrs. Graff worked at many different endeavors over her lifetime. She was a secretary for Louie Craig, worked in record keeping for Dr. Trefz at General Hospital in Weston, Manley Clothing Store, Switchboard operator for the Weston State Hospital and Counselor for Appalachian Mental Health of Weston. He completed the Food Industry Management Program at Cornell University in 1984. He was a member of the Hillbilly Players performing in a variety of productions. He was a Methodist. - Ida Mae Jackqueline Jackie Coyner, 85, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2010. She grew up in South Charleston and lived in Charleston and Hurricane. - Edward Taylor, 57, of Lake Mary, Fla., passed away peacefully on September 3, 2010, surrounded by his family after a courageous 3 year battle with gastric cancer. - Betty L. Summers Betty L. (Perkey) Summers, age 83, of Lenoir City, TN, formerly of West Virginia and Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 4:15 a.m. from cancer and other illnesses at Mercy Hospice. She born on March 25, 1927, daughter of Noah Bryan and Wilma Pearl (Clark) Perkey. She was preceded in death by son, James M. Summers: sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Daril Stalnaker; brother, James Alan Perkey; nephew, Thomas Spotnitz and ex-husband, Maple H. Summers. Surviving are fiancé, Tressler Hardin of Lenoir City, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Weaver of Tellico Village, TN; daughter, Sharon Williams of Weston; six grandchildren, David Weaver of Chantilly, VA, Jim (Darcy) Weaver of Tellico Village, TN, Heath (Tracy) Summers and Kirk (Teresa) Summers of Buckhannon, Jill (Mike) Shaffer of Aurora, CO, and Jeff (Kim) Williams of Jane Lew; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Murray and Madeline Spotnitz of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Elbert Perkey of Mansfield, TX; sister-in-law, Marlene Perkey of Weston; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Summers was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was an active church member as long as her health permitted having last served a two year term as President of the United Methodist Women at the Springboro United Methodist Church in Ohio. A native of Lewis County and a graduate of Weston High School in Weston; she was employed by NL Basin Surveys and later retired from Union Drilling, Inc. (oil and gas industries). In Ohio, she was employed at Kettering Medical Center until her resignation due to ill health in 1998. She had served as a 4-H Leader for 7 years, President of 4-H Leaders Association, President of Home Demonstration Club in both Lewis and Upshur County also, served as County Vice President in both counties, President of Desk and Derrick Club (organization for women employed in the Oil & Gas industry), member of Fred Brooks Garden Club, ten year member and president of Buckhannon Business and Professional Womens Club who honored her as "Woman of the Year" in 1984. During her tenure she won the honor of being selected as 1st Place President in the State. She also served as State BPW Convention Chairman held in Charleston, WV as well as Upshur County BPW District chairman and was awarded recognition for excellence and Traveling Nike as Outstanding District. She had served as State BPW Recording Secretary and State Second Vice President prior to moving to Ohio.
- Mrs. Wanda Mae Graff Mrs. Wanda Mae Graff, 65, of Burnsville, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010, at 11:45 a.m. at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on June 29, 1945, in Weston; daughter of the late Fred Manley and Margie (Willis) Manley. On May 10, 1985, she married Dick Graff, who survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Graff is survived by two daughters, Leslie Sprouse (Danny) of Jane Lew, and Julie Austin (Scott) of Grafton; and two step sons, Rich Graff (Linda) of Burnsville and Nick Graff (Michelle) of Walkersville. In addition to her children she is survived by five grandchildren, Jalen Sprouse, Marlie Sprouse, Sophia Austin, Chance Graff, and Eddie Posey. Mrs. Graff is also survived by one brother, Fred Manley, Jr. of Ravenswood; and two sisters, Shirley Clifford (Jim) of Centerville, OH, and Carol Fulks (Mike) of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graff was the cashier and general manager of Graff Auction Services of Burnsville. She was a member of St. Mathew United Methodist Church of Weston. Mrs. Graff worked at many different endeavors over her life time she was a secretary for Louie Craig, worked in record keeping for Dr. Trefz at General Hospital in Weston, Manley Clothing Store, Switch board operator for the Weston State Hospital, and Counselor for Appalachian Mental Health of Weston. Family received friends at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Monday, August 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew. - James Lee Conrad James Lee “Sonny” Conrad, 94, of Crawford, passed away Wednesday, Aug., 25, 2010, at his home and in the care of Hospice after a short illness. Sonny was born on May 7, 1916, in Napier, a son of the late Boyd and Artie M. Wine Conrad. He was retired from the WV Department of Highways and a member of the Orlando Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Pearl Horner Conrad. Also preceding him in death are two grandchildren and six brothers and sisters. Sonny is survived by his children: Sharon Hayhurst, Billy (Barbara) Conrad, Boyd (Nancy) Conrad, Sue (Rich) Mealey, Brenda (Gary) Hall, Bobby (Vicky) Conrad.Thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Also surviving are sisters, Lou Young of Leivasy, Rosa Sisk of Weston, Reba Ratliff of Orlando, and Nancy Singleton of Orlando. One brother, Roy “Budge” Conrad. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with Rev. Lonnie Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters.
- Stella Lura Goldsmith Riffle Stella Lura Goldsmith Riffle, 83, of Hackers Creek Road, Jane Lew, died August 28, 2010, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. She was born March 19, 1927 in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Patterson Goldsmith. She was married in Weston July 1, 1944, to Warren (Bud) Riffle, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, David Riffle and his wife Carol of Jane Lew; two daughters, Emma Riffle Straley of Weston, Debra Riffle Posey and her husband Bernard of Jane Lew; one brother, John Goldsmith and his wife Marie of Jane Lew; and one sister, Lela Daughtery of Churchville. Mrs. Riffle was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Riffle, October 1999; one granddaughter, Amanda Riffle; and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Riffle had worked or Lewis County Glass for many years. She loved her flowers, her garden and The Swap Shop over the Weston radio stations. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a friend to all. Friends were received at the Morris Funeral Home, Jane Lew, Tuesday evening, August 31, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview I.O.O.F Cemetery.
- Betty Louise Wilson Betty Louise (Dean) Wilson, 75, of Weston joined our heavenly Father at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Copley on November 8, 1934; the daughter of the late Bunnell Dean and Hazel (Butcher) Dean. On September 2, 1953, she married James Herbert Wilson, who survives. Mrs. Wilson is also survived by two sons: J. Stephen Wilson and wife Tamara of Weston and Michael H. Wilson and wife Anita of Black River Falls, WI; thee grandchildren: Lt. Joshua H. Wilson, serving in Iraq, Rebecca M. Strader and husband Brian of Ashland, VA, and Justin H. Wilson; and two great-grandchildren: Caelin and Isaac Strader. She is also survived by five sisters: Irene Fulton (Art), Florida Waugh, Alma Heckert (Jerry) , Elsie Metz (Jack) and Connie Fordyce (John); a special niece: Connie Fordyce; and a special nephew: Danny L. Neal, who helped with Betty’s care. Betty is also survived by one sister-in-law: Betty Dean; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by one brother: Roy Dean; and one sister: Geneva Singleton. Mrs. Wilson had 25 years of service with the Substance Abuse Unit at Weston State Hospital, later was a counselor with the United Summit Center and was an Avon Sales representative. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston. Mrs. Wilson was a Past Worthy Matron and member of Weston Chapter#40 Order of Eastern Star. She was a volunteer with the Theresa Snaith Auxillary of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston. She was a graduate of Weston High School with the “Class of 1953.” Betty cherished her family and loved the outdoors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, on Friday, September 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Weston Chapter #40 Order of Eastern Star will hold evening services on Friday at 7:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.
