- Kay Anderson On August 30, 2010, a brilliant ray of sunshine burst through the kingdom of heaven to announce the arrival of our mother, Ora Katherine Anderson. Ora Katherine Old was born on July 27, 1938 in Waco, Texas to Ora Irene Old and Joseph Reece Old Sr. Ora Kay grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas; attended Menger Elementary and Wynn Seale Junior High and graduated from W.B. Ray High School. She was delighted to get to Austin and attend "The University" where she was a member of Delta Gamma and was selected as a Bluebonnet Belle. While at UT, she met William Kent Anderson Sr. and on January 29, 1959, they were married in The First United Methodist Church in Corpus. Mom and Dad lived in Houston, Texas for several years where they welcomed Elizabeth Katherene Anderson and William Kent Anderson Jr. In Alvin, Texas, Mother became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to being a loving wife and a devoted mother, Mom returned to school and completed her degree in education at Corpus Christi State University. Mom loved her God, her babies, her Longhorns, her friends, her caregivers, her angels, her flowers, her birds, her music, her travels, her lakehouse, her nativities, her ranch, her first graders, her catalogs and all celebrations and holidays. Left to continue to love all people as deeply and richly as Kay did is her daughter, Elizabeth Anderson Hooks (Michael) and her son William Kent Anderson Jr. (Marjorie) and her precious grandchildren: Dylan, Wyatt and Michaela Katherine Hooks and William and Katherine Elizabeth Anderson. Kay is also survived by her extended family including Joseph Reece Old Jr. (Lynda), William K. Anderson Sr., Dr. Sharon Rose, Ted R. Anderson and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was blessed with a spirit so loving that she is also survived by all the precious people that she called her friends. We are comforted that Mom was received in heaven by her parents, her beloved aunts Larona Clark and Katherine White and her loving fiancé Ray Dulin, all of whom predeceased her. We invite you to gather with us to celebrate Mother's life at a memorial service to be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 am at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, located at 411 RR 620, Lakeway, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Kay to Lady Bird's Legacy Wildflower Fund or to the children's charity of your choice.
