- class="default_p">Charles W. “Charley” Smith III of Ste. Genevieve died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was 73 years old.
- class="default_p">Survivors include two sons, Carl Jokerst and his wife, Linda, of St. Louis and Thomas Jokerst and best friend, Patricia Crowley, of Chesterfield; and the following nieces and nephews–Patrick Sulser and his wife, Susan, Debra (Mrs. Ron) Thomure, Suzanne Sulser, Michael Sulser and his wife, Mary, Lynell Elwyn, Terry Mackie and Susan Kueber. She also is survived by a granddaughter, Carla (Mrs. Nathan) Hoenig of Webster Groves; and a great-grandchild–Lillian Grace Hoenig.
- class="default_p">Funeral services were held Saturday, September 4, 1 p.m. at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood with Lay Minister Lorraine Stange officiating. Burial was in Midlawn Cemetery in St. Clair. Basler Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
- class="default_p">She was born February 1, 1923 in Kaskaskia, Illinois, a daughter of Raleigh and Selma (Cassoutt) Sulser.

- class="default_p">Mrs. Jokerst was a member of Immaculate Conception Church Ladies Sodality in Kaskaskia, League of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague, Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Perryville, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus League.
- class="default_p">Survivors include a daughter, Amanda (Mrs. Michael) Lucier of St. Louis; a son, Charles W. Smith IV and his wife, Mandy, of Ste. Genevieve; and a sister, Shirley Daly of Dallas, Texas. He also is survived by five grandchildren–Alycha, Jack, Andrew, Katherine and Carlie.
- class="default_p"Visitation for Mrs. Jokerst will be Friday, September 10, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Basler Funeral Home. Visitation also will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia. Funeral services follow at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend Richard Kasznel officiating. Burial will follow in Kaskaskia Cemetery in Illinois. Basler Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

- class="default_p"Mr. Smith was owner/operator of the Mill Antique Mart in Ste. Genevieve and the former owner/operator of Charley Smith Motor Company. He was a member of the Ste. Genevieve Eagles Aerie #4336, Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce, MADA and NADA, American Legion Post #150, the Missouri Athletic Club, Moolah Temple Shriner and the Royal Order of Jesters Court 81. He also served on the board of the Ste. Genevieve Industrial Development Commission. He was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of the Ste. Genevieve Lion’s Club, Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club and a past board member of First Financial Bank.
- class="default_p">In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Forrest and Burnell Sulser; and a sister, Naomi Sulser; and a niece, Mary Mullins.

Bonnie attended Marshfield High School, and was married during her senior year, in 1951, to Claude Burks. She had her first son, Danny, at the age of 24, and her second son, Michael, seven years later. Bonnie and Claude lived in South Carolina while Claude served in the U.S. Army, and returned to Missouri after Claude’s discharge from the Army.
