- Ronnie Dale "Bubba" Adams born 12/10/55 of Blackwell TX went to be with the Lord on 9/2/10. Ronnie had 21 years clean and serene which allowed him to share his experience, strength and hope at Crossroads Mission, where he was employed the past six years. He was a rock in the Yuma recovery community and will be missed by many. Ronnie is survived by father, Bill and mothers, Joann and Anna; daughter, Christina; grandson, Peyton; two brothers, Phillip Wayne of Grand Forks ND and Curtis Leroy of Kingsland TX. - Berniece Margaret Czajkowski (nee Czarniecki), 89 passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at her home. She was born on January 22, 1921 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.Berniece is survived by sons, Christopher (his wife Catherine and daughter Claire) of Yuma, AZ, Gregory and Mark (his wife Tatiana and step-son Sergey) of Yuma, AZ, and her sister, Mary Ann Zoppa of Michigan.Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, Henry ("Farmer Hank"), brothers, Edward, Bernard, John, Robert and Donald, and sisters, Margaret and Dolores.Berniece was a scholarship pupil at St. Isidore Elementary and Middle Schools and Mt. Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids. She was the valedictorian of the Mt. Mercy Academy 1939 graduating class.After high school, Berniece was employed at Corduroy Rubber Company in the Controller's office. She worked there until her marriage to Hank in 1949. The newlyweds left Grand Rapids to begin their life together in Arizona. They first lived in Tucson, and then moved to Yuma in 1951. During her time in Yuma, Bernice raised her family and actively supported Hank as he farmed in the North Gila Valley. She worked as the secretary to the Post Engineer at Yuma Proving Grounds in the late 1950's and early 1960's. She was fond of cooking, and over the years she assembled a large collection of cookbooks as well as recipes from family and friends. Berniece put her impressive business and office skills to good use running the family business office after Hank invented and patented the Best Cotton Saver. They formed the company Marwin, Inc. to manufacture and sell the Best Cotton Saver as well as adaptations for hay, peanut, wheat and tomato harvesters. Their son Mark now runs the business.Over decades of involvement in agriculture, Berniece accompanied Hank to meetings and conferences for a variety of farming and soil and water conservation organizations. In 2007, the couple received the Arizona Farm Bureau's Heritage Award to recognize their many years of commitment to agriculture.Bernice was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and a Lady in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She and Hank traveled to the Holy Land in the early 1990's.A viewing will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 9:00 a.m.. to 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Vista Funeral Home. - James Gregory (Greg) Dale passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday, August 29th, 2010 at Hospice of the Valley, Sherman Home in Phoenix, Arizona. Greg was determined to fight and lost his battle with cancer which took him too soon from us. Greg was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 21st, 1948 and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. Greg attended Brophy College Preparatory where he acquired success and recognition for athletics, specifically his propensity toward basketball. Greg joined the Army

- Lori Dietrich Espinoza died at home in her sleep Sunday August 29th 2010. Lori was born March 20th, 1959 in San Diego California She graduated Kofa High School in 1977 and obtained a BS in accounting. Lori worked for various construction companies in Yuma and Tucson over the years. Lori was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Ione Dietrich of Yuma Arizona. She is survived by her two sons, Juanito, age 15 and Pedro age 23 of Tucson, her former spouse, Juan, her sister Marcia Kardatzke of Alaska, brother Bob Dietrich of Tucson, brother Marty Dietrich of Colorado and many niece and nephews. Her sons suggest donations be made in her name for breast cancer. Donations for the children may be made to Marcia Kardatzke POB 3301 Soldotna, AK 99669. - Morris "Pep" Berman Passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 with his family at his side in Tucson, Arizona. Morris was born July 15, 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He graduated from GAR High School. He served heroically in World Word II as a flight surgeon's assistant in the Army Air Corp in the European and African Theatres. After his military service, he returned to his home in Wilkes-Barre and spent most of his adult life in retail sales for the J.S. Raub Shoe Corporation. He was one of the best known merchants on Wilkes-Barre's Main Street. As a sideline, he worked with his father Nate Berman in the house painting and wall-paper hanging business, a craft that he continued well into his retirement from retail sales. Throughout his life he remained active in sports as a participant, coach and umpire. He enjoyed walking, swimming and riding a bike late into his 80s. He is probably best known for his devotion to friends and family and for his commitment to his synagogues in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Lake Worth, FL and most recently Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Berman of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Sandra Kam (Jeff) of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Joan Berman of Tucson, AZ; son, Scott Berman, MD (Christi) of Tucson, AZ and granddaughters, Samantha Kam of Baltimore, MD and Alex Berman of Tucson, AZ. Melissa is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, missionary, teacher and friend. She will be missed by all who know her. Melissa was born in Topeka, Kansas to Dr. Marshall W. Jones and Myrna Belle West Jones on August 17, 1961. She lived in Tucson since she was two years old. She attended Catalina High School, the University of Arizona and Brigham Young University and received her Bachelors Degree in English and her Masters Degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education. She happily served a two year mission in the New York City area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loves people and loves to learn. She married Ray Lawrence Burns on February 12, 1994. They have three incredible children, Joshua, Marybelle and Bethany. Melissa has been blessed in her life to know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is her Savior. Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Myrna W. Jones and brother, Mark F. Jones and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Ray L. Burns; their children, Joshua, Marybelle and Bethany; her father, Marshall W. Jones (Linda); siblings, Marshall W. - Born on May 26, 1918 in Haddam, Kansas, Leora Fencl Speers died peacefully on August 30, at the age of 92 at The Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia. Due to her health, she moved to Charlottesville from Sun City West, AZ in March 2010 to be near her surviving son, Jim, and his family. Leora lived nearly 30 years in Sun City West, the last 20 years of which she lived by herself. With James Speers, her lifelong friend and beloved husband of 48 years, Leora retired to Sun City West in 1980 – James passed away in 1990. In addition to her son, Leora is survived by two daughters, Nancy from Somerset, WI and Sally from Denver, CO, both married, as well as 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many friends all over the US.Leora was active in the SCW community and served for 28 years as a library volunteer as well as for many years as the Chairperson of her condo association. The family would like to thank Leora's many sweet Arizona friends who loved her so well, especially during the last few years of her life – Leora loved Arizona because of her many devoted, long-term friends here. - Age 90, of Sun City, AZ passed away August 22, 2010. She was born in Remsen, Iowa on March 17, 1920 to the late John and Margaret Schnieders. Pat graduated from St. Mary's High School in Remsen. At the age of 17, she attended a Business College in Sioux City for 2 years before taking a job as a secretary in the Iowa Legislature followed by a position working for State Finance.Pat's destiny and life changed after agreeing to a blind date with a B-17 pilot, James Burkhard. They dated for two months before Jim was shipped overseas to England to fly missions as part of the Allied Forces efforts in World War II. After returning to the States, Jim proposed to Patricia and they were married in St. Mary's Church in Remsen on August 19, 1944. The newly married couple traveled around the country with Jim's various service assignments, spending time in Miami, FL; Bryan Air Force Base, TX; Las Vegas, NV; and then finally discharged in Fort Dix, NJ.Pat returned with Jim to his hometown of Watertown, NY in 1945. The couple lived in Watertown for 35 years where their name was well known for their 3rd generation family business, Burkhard's Plumbing and Heating. They retired to Sun City, AZ in 1980. Pat was an active golfer, bridge player and for many years enjoyed various hobbies such as pottery, gardening and aerobics. She was a devoted Catholic and dedicated her life to her husband and children and created a loving home for her family. Pat had the support of family in the months, weeks and days up to her passing. Although she had been battling Alzheimer's for many years, she died peacefully in her sleep as the result of a bone marrow disease. Her husband Jim died in September 2000. Her older brother Bob and younger sister Mary Ellen predecease her, passing away in 1990 and 2001, respectively. She is survived by her four children: Dan Burkhard and his wife Sharon of Sun City West, AZ; Barbara Goodfellow and her husband Terry of Sun City, AZ; Bob Burkhard and his wife Wendy of Fort Mill, SC; and Mark Burkhard and his wife Jan of Andover, MA. - Charles W. "Chuck" Davis, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Born in Fithian, IL to Ray and Rebecca Davis on June 28, 1915.He graduated from Charleston HS, Charleston, IL where he was an All State Football player and later attended the Univ. of IL. A vacant position became available at the Fithian, IL post office for a Rural Letter Carrier where he applied and was accepted as the top candidate. Chuck held this position for the next 32 years in the Fithian and Ogden Post Offices. He was active in the State Rural Letter Carriers Association and served on the Board for 8 years. He joined the U.S. Calvary at an early age, and was selected as the outstanding Cadet. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Patron of the OES. He is a founding member of the Sun City West Desert Garden United Church of Christ. He was active in his church and an avid golfer. He helped organize the Octogarian golf tournament in Sun City West and had 10 holes in one during his playing days.He is survived by his wife, Helen of over 68 years. They have two children: Carolyn Liggett and Charles A. Davis; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. - Thomas Bruce Richey (known to friends as “Tom”) died on Aug. 29, 2010, in Georgetown, Texas. He was born on Oct. 31, 1919, and grew up in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, specifically San Benito, near Brownsville. He was the son of McMurry Richey and Ruby Smith Richey, and had one brother, McMurry S. Richey.
- Michael Paul Phillips, passed away Aug. 26, 2010, in Nolandville, Texas. Michael graduated from Buena High School in 1996. He will be missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 840 N. Lenzner Ave., Sierra Vista, Ariz.
- Fred Spencer Stone, 77, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away at Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Fred was born on March 1, 1933, in Rochester, N.Y. He attended and graduated from Bowling Green State University with bachelor’s degree in 1956 and received his master’s degree from Pepperdine University in 1976. He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force. During his distinguished career, he received many awards and retired after 21 years of service at the rank of lieutenant colonel.
- Austin Carroll (Ace) Irons, 82, passed peacefully on Aug. 17, 2010, in Hospice with his family at bedside. Austin “Ace” Irons was born in Athens, Tenn., on April 22, 1928, to Fred Stanley and Mamie Adelaide Sloan Irons. In 1930, the family relocated to Rehoboth Beach, Del., so Fred could work for Stokley Brothers cannery. Always a reader, Ace graduated from Lewis High School in 1946, maintaining an “A” average, for which he recalls he “didn’t have to work that hard.”
- Kenneth J. “Mac” McFadden age 61, a 25-year resident of Sierra Vista passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. He was born Nov. 12, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Earl and Beverly McFadden.
- John R. Dicey, born May 2, 1943, to Robert and Eugenie Dicey, passed on to a new adventure on Aug. 26, 2010. During the past year, in the face of terminal cancer and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, he lived with the same dignity, courage and determination to live his abbreviated life as fully as he had always done.
- Yoshiko Mary Ayers, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at her home in Sierra Vista with her devoted and loving children faithfully by her side. Yoshiko was born in Okinawa, Japan in a small farming village. She served as a nurse’s aide during World War II and saved the life of a Japanese lieutenant by treating his severe injuries and carrying the soldier on her back for three miles to an aid station. As the war ended, the lieutenant and Yoshiko went their separate ways. He became a successful Japanese businessman.
- “Louie” Perez, a 50-year-old native of Bisbee, Ariz., passed away in his hometown on Aug. 30, 2010. He was born Dec. 27, 1959, to Ireneo and Jenny B. Perez, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Debra Perez; son L. Joshua Perez; daughters Perlyta Perez, Persylla Perez (Richard Roman) and Lysa Perez; brothers Albert Perez (Carol), Enrique Perez and Miguel Perez; sisters Esther Perez (Steve Roethle) and Yolanda Perez Moots (Richard).
- William (Bill) Albert Harrel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His life goal was to know and love God, and he wanted more than anything for others to find real life in Christ. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by wife, Stephanie Harrel; daughters, Kristi Kortman and Tammi Harrel; granddaughters, Izzy and Tia Kortman; and many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
- David (Dave) C. Weidemann, 72, of Huachuca City, Ariz., passed away at home on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010. Dave was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on May 10, 1938, to Caryl J. (Knapp) and Albert O. Weidemann. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960. He did two tours in Vietnam and served in Germany and Korea. Dave was stationed on Fort Huachuca, Ariz., in 1978 and decided to make Arizona his home. He retired as a master sergeant in 1986 after 26 years of active duty service.
- Shirley Ann St. Clair, 76, passed away on Aug. 14, 2010. Shirley was a marble champion as a child and graduated from high school in Minneapolis, Minn. She was an award-winning artist. She earned a nursing certificate and signed up for the Merchant Marines, though she never was called to duty.

- Tod S. Wilson was born Feb. 7, 1972, in Riverside, Calif., to Charles and Deborah Wilson. After years of military travels, the family settled in Tucson. Tod graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in 1990. After high school, Tod joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Alabama Birmingham Mission from 1992 to 1994. On July 15, 1994, Tod married his high school sweetheart, Lynette Mattix, and they were blessed with a daughter and four sons.
- Leon T. Hood, Sr., a seven-year resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., joined the Lord on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010. Leon retired in 1998 from Operating Engineers. He served in the Army Reserves. Leon was a deacon at the Sierra Springs Church since 2007. His hobbies were sports, golf, quilting and always helping others.
- Iris L. McDaniel of Casa Grande, Ariz., 81, died Aug. 24, 2010. Iris is survived by her daughter, Louise Krouse; sons, Randall McPherson and Gerald McPherson; sister, Sedonia Hinman; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. - Benito Soto Martinez, 88, of Holbrook died August 14, 2010, in Mesa. He was born March 21, 1922, in Taylor to the late Encarnicion and Petra (Soto) Martinez.
- Joshua Thomas Carter, 29, died near his home Aug. 28, 2010 in Show Low Pines. He was born Sept. 26, 1980, in Rexburg, Idaho to Laura (Allsop) and Joe Carter. He attended school in Pocatello, Idaho until he moved to Arizona in 1993 at the age of 13 where he continued his education. He was always interested in learning new things and meeting new people.
- Chester J. "Chet" Babina died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 in Springerville. He was born Dec. 5, 1919 in Hartford, Conn, the son of Raymond Babina and Alice Ptaszynski Babina.
- Earl Maurice Sivesind, 79, of Clay Springs died Aug. 26, 2010 at his home. He was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Decorah, Iowa to the late Paul Olaf and Hazel (Melberg) Sivesind.

- Willard A. Kennedy Jr., 81, of Show Low died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at his residence. He was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Willard and Eleanor Kennedy Sr. He was raised and attended school in Los Angeles. He received his electronics degree and went to work as an electronic avionics engineer. He married Nancy Palmer on Sept. 1, 1973, in Santa Barbara, Calif. He had worked for 52 years in his field, spending several years with Air Research at LAX and Gulfstream in Long Beach. He and Nancy came to the White Mountains in 1987, where he continued to do consulting work as long as he was able. He loved his work, and enjoyed baseball and the old movies. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, La.

- Donna Joy Mills, 83, of Ahwatukee, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on July 20. Donna was born in Los Angeles on Dec. 6, 1926 to Merrill and Juanita Crockett. She and her younger sister, Merrilyn, were raised in Palm Springs. She married Willis (Al) Mills on April 30, 1945 and together they raised three children. She is survived by her husband, Al; her sister, Merrilyn (Glenn); her son, Chris (Dawn) of Palm Springs; her daughter Marcia (Mark) and son Terry (Charlene) both of Phoenix. Donna is also survived by her grandchildren, Wendy (Dave), Wade (Marcy), Mark, Makenna (Jordan) and Hayden; and great grandchildren, Joshua, Bradlee, Lucy Jane and Ruby. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Bradley. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at Tempe Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Valley, whose wonderful staff extended to Donna and her family dignity and grace as she was delivered into God's loving arms. - LOY VAN NATTER, 86, a 22-year resident of Green Valley, died Aug. 14, 2010, at University Medical Center in Tucson.A classically trainer musician and singer, Loy studied at the Julliard School of Music, New York University, the Conservatory in Paris, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He went on to perform on Broadway and at Carnegie Hall, as well as at overseas venues. His musical repertoire ranged from opera to comedy.

- Cristian (Cris) Antonel Spahr, 25, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010.
- Mr. Hess was an alumnus of Syracuse University and a veteran of World War II. He was proud of his service in the Army’s classified “Secret” Special Troops which employed sonic deception 17 times throughout the European Theater of operations.

- Ina King Smith, 81, of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Las Cruces, N.M., died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

- Born Sept. 23, 1928, in Colorado City, Texas, she was the daughter of Arthur James King and Mary Ann Lela Pierce-King. On Sept. 19, 1964, she was married to Joseph Andrew Smith, in Dallas, Texas. He died Dec. 16, 1994.
- At the age of six, Cris was adopted by Thomas and Nancy Spahr. At that time, the Spahr family lived in Londonderry, N. H. and Cris happily joined his six new siblings which included Thomas Spahr, Christopher Spahr, Sarah (Spahr) Daume, Shannon (Spahr) Sampson, Matthew Spahr, and Colleen (Spahr) Barnes.
- She was also past president of the Spokane Chapter of the Executive Women International, and at her death, was an active member of Chapter #169 Order of the Eastern Star, located in York, Pa., having been installed originally in the East Dallas Chapter #715 OES.
- Cristian leaves behind the following family members who feel his loss deeply; his mother, Nancy P. Spahr (of Fountain Hills); his grandmother, Marvel L. Goodroad (of Sioux Falls, S.D.); his brothers, Thomas L. Spahr (of New York City), Christopher E. Spahr (of Las Vegas, Nev.), and Matthew T. Spahr (of Bridgton, Maine); his sisters, Sarah (Spahr) Daume (of Greenfield, N. H.), Shannon (Spahr) Sampson (of Phoenix), and Colleen (Spahr) Barnes (of San Tan Valley); and his son, Antonel Thomas Spahr (of Fountain Hills). Cristian was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Spahr, whom he loved and missed greatly.
- Ina had the pleasure of working in the construction industry all of her life, and retired in 1996 while living in Spokane, Wash.

- Thomas Bruce Richey (known to friends as “Tom”) died on Aug. 29, 2010, in Georgetown, Texas. He was born on Oct. 31, 1919, and grew up in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, specifically San Benito, near Brownsville. He was the son of McMurry Richey and Ruby Smith Richey, and had one brother, McMurry S. Richey.
- Michael Paul Phillips, passed away Aug. 26, 2010, in Nolandville, Texas. Michael graduated from Buena High School in 1996. He will be missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 840 N. Lenzner Ave., Sierra Vista, Ariz.
- Fred Spencer Stone, 77, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away at Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Fred was born on March 1, 1933, in Rochester, N.Y. He attended and graduated from Bowling Green State University with bachelor’s degree in 1956 and received his master’s degree from Pepperdine University in 1976. He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force. During his distinguished career, he received many awards and retired after 21 years of service at the rank of lieutenant colonel.
- Austin Carroll (Ace) Irons, 82, passed peacefully on Aug. 17, 2010, in Hospice with his family at bedside. Austin “Ace” Irons was born in Athens, Tenn., on April 22, 1928, to Fred Stanley and Mamie Adelaide Sloan Irons. In 1930, the family relocated to Rehoboth Beach, Del., so Fred could work for Stokley Brothers cannery. Always a reader, Ace graduated from Lewis High School in 1946, maintaining an “A” average, for which he recalls he “didn’t have to work that hard.”
- Kenneth J. “Mac” McFadden age 61, a 25-year resident of Sierra Vista passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. He was born Nov. 12, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Earl and Beverly McFadden.
- John R. Dicey, born May 2, 1943, to Robert and Eugenie Dicey, passed on to a new adventure on Aug. 26, 2010. During the past year, in the face of terminal cancer and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, he lived with the same dignity, courage and determination to live his abbreviated life as fully as he had always done.
- Yoshiko Mary Ayers, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at her home in Sierra Vista with her devoted and loving children faithfully by her side. Yoshiko was born in Okinawa, Japan in a small farming village. She served as a nurse’s aide during World War II and saved the life of a Japanese lieutenant by treating his severe injuries and carrying the soldier on her back for three miles to an aid station. As the war ended, the lieutenant and Yoshiko went their separate ways. He became a successful Japanese businessman.
- “Louie” Perez, a 50-year-old native of Bisbee, Ariz., passed away in his hometown on Aug. 30, 2010. He was born Dec. 27, 1959, to Ireneo and Jenny B. Perez, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Debra Perez; son L. Joshua Perez; daughters Perlyta Perez, Persylla Perez (Richard Roman) and Lysa Perez; brothers Albert Perez (Carol), Enrique Perez and Miguel Perez; sisters Esther Perez (Steve Roethle) and Yolanda Perez Moots (Richard).
- William (Bill) Albert Harrel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His life goal was to know and love God, and he wanted more than anything for others to find real life in Christ. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by wife, Stephanie Harrel; daughters, Kristi Kortman and Tammi Harrel; granddaughters, Izzy and Tia Kortman; and many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
- David (Dave) C. Weidemann, 72, of Huachuca City, Ariz., passed away at home on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010. Dave was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on May 10, 1938, to Caryl J. (Knapp) and Albert O. Weidemann. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960. He did two tours in Vietnam and served in Germany and Korea. Dave was stationed on Fort Huachuca, Ariz., in 1978 and decided to make Arizona his home. He retired as a master sergeant in 1986 after 26 years of active duty service.
- Shirley Ann St. Clair, 76, passed away on Aug. 14, 2010. Shirley was a marble champion as a child and graduated from high school in Minneapolis, Minn. She was an award-winning artist. She earned a nursing certificate and signed up for the Merchant Marines, though she never was called to duty.
- Patricia E. Taylor, 71, passed away on Aug. 21, 2010, with her children by her side at the Sierra Vista Regional Hospital Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
- Tod S. Wilson was born Feb. 7, 1972, in Riverside, Calif., to Charles and Deborah Wilson. After years of military travels, the family settled in Tucson. Tod graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in 1990. After high school, Tod joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Alabama Birmingham Mission from 1992 to 1994. On July 15, 1994, Tod married his high school sweetheart, Lynette Mattix, and they were blessed with a daughter and four sons.
- Leon T. Hood, Sr., a seven-year resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., joined the Lord on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010. Leon retired in 1998 from Operating Engineers. He served in the Army Reserves. Leon was a deacon at the Sierra Springs Church since 2007. His hobbies were sports, golf, quilting and always helping others.
- Iris L. McDaniel of Casa Grande, Ariz., 81, died Aug. 24, 2010. Iris is survived by her daughter, Louise Krouse; sons, Randall McPherson and Gerald McPherson; sister, Sedonia Hinman; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial was held at The Garnet in Casa Grande. Memorial Donations can be made to “Hospice Compassus” 1675 E. Monument Plaza Drive, Casa Grande, Ariz. 85222.
